About Our Legend Series HP Plus

The Legend Series HP Plus takes everything great that we have learned from our recently improved Legend Series Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kits and makes them perfect for the person that has upgraded to a larger wheel and tire package but isn’t looking to spend their entire budget to get a better looking and a better performing rear disc brake conversion kit.

Here are a few things to know about the Legend Series HP Plus product line.

Modern caliper

Parts from the OEMs have greatly improved over the years. What was available 30-40 years ago may have worked at that time but there have been tremendous improvements over those years. Taking some of what has worked well from the OEMs and their new technology, we have applied that logic to our rear disc brake conversion kits. We are able to use a modern caliper found originally on some late-model Ford applications. This caliper utilizes a smaller piston size that balances better with many fronts and rear systems available to the classic car community. The caliper is a floating style, which allows for better movement and efficiency.

Self-adjusting park brake assembly

Setting the park brake assembly was always a pain, and the brake had to be reset periodically if not frequently used. In our Legend Series kits, the park brake assembly is set initially with a simple pull of the park brake lever. The brake remains set by simply pushing the brake pedal.

13-inch Rotors for Large Wheels

What sets the HP Plus apart from other Legend Series kits is that it utilizes a 13” rotor over our standard 11” rotor in our car applications and a 12” rotor in some of the truck applications. Why should that matter to you?  Larger wheels require a larger rotor for proper performance and fit. The 13-inch rotors in this kit fit wheels that are 17 inches or larger in diameter. A larger wheel and tire package requires a longer stopping distance to be able to bring the car to a stop. Going to a larger rotor will significantly reduce the necessary space required to stop the vehicle. Larger rotors can provide additional leverage on the rear wheels shortening that necessary stopping distance.

Additionally, the 13” rotor will come to you as a standard slotted, drilled, and zinc-washed rotor with directional veining. This provides additional benefits of increased heat dissipation as well as a coating on the rotor to provide good looks for years to come.

CNC billet aluminum and steel brackets

For high function and style, the Legend Series HP Plus kits utilize a mix of CNC-machined 6061 aluminum along with steel laser-cut brackets. Everything is either black anodized or finished in an attractive gold zinc finish that won’t require any maintenance and will look good for years to come.  All of the necessary mounting hardware is included and is Grade 8 or equivalent throughout. Any additional shims and spacers are also included.

Braided Stainless Steel Hoses

Also included as a standard part of the Legend Series HP Plus systems are stainless braided brake hoses. We utilize 12” hoses that feature an attractive black vinyl coating to keep the hoses looking fresh and provide a  little more protection from flying debris. In addition, we included chrome-plated banjo fittings and hardware to attach to your existing hardware and provide a secure mounting point.
