Earlier this year we revived our Ride of the Month contest. The Ride of the Month is a friendly submission contest where you the customer send us a picture of your ride for a chance to win a prize and to have your ride featured in a blog post and on our social media platforms.
The winner for the May 2019 Ride of the Month is Roger from Ohio and his 1965 Plymouth Satellite. Roger went through some great lengths to get his ride and we can’t wait to tell you about it.
Roger purchased his Satellite in 1998 while visiting his brother on vacation in California.The interesting thing about this is he didn’t actually go to California with the intent to buy a car. However after coming upon the car Roger made an offer. An offer he at first thought for sure the cars owner would reject.
Much to Rogers surprise the car owner actually accepted his offer. Having been caught off guard Rodger found himself in a tight spot. He really wanted the car but didn’t have the money on him to pay for it. After all he was on vacation and didn’t anticipate buying a car. That is when his niece and her husband stepped in.They told him if he really wanted the car then they would loan him the money to buy it. Roger really thinks they are the greatest and we would have to agree! Having bought the Satellite Roger had the car shipped back home to Ohio and promptly sold his motorcycle and repaid his niece and nephew.In the twenty one years since he bought the Satellite Roger has enjoyed countless car shows and cruise-ins.
One of the most interesting facts about Rogers Satellite is that it still has it’s original 361 cubic inch V8 engine and 727 torqueflite transmission. As far as the stopping power for Rogers Satellite goes he has been running Master Power Brakes powered legend series disc brake conversion kits on both the front and rear since 2004. He is also currently in the process of updating his system to our new modern style caliper.
