At Master Power Brakes, we’ve always offered a front disc brake conversion kit for the 1953-1962 Chevrolet Corvette but haven’t been able to offer a rear kit due to packaging reasons. With the recent change to all of our disc brake conversion kits for the car and truck applications, we decided to take a second look at the C1 Corvette and see if there was anything we could now do. What we found made us very happy.
The change to the more modern caliper allowed us to make a smaller package that now clears the upper link bar mount and allows for proper routing of the park brake cables. The caliper in question is used by the OEMs today and is a single-piston caliper with the parking brake built into the caliper.
It stays adjusted by simply using the brakes and therefore makes life much simpler. Included in our C1 Corvette rear disc brake conversion kit is an 11’’ rotor that has been designed in-house specifically for Master Power Brakes rear disc brake conversion kits. The caliper mounted to the housing using a CNC machined billet aluminum mounting bracket along with a gold iridite plated laser cut steel bracket.
Like with all of our new rear kits, you will have the option to choose an HP upgrade that will improve the performance of this kit. Our HP option offers you a zinc-washed slotted and drilled rotor, braided stainless steel brake hoses, and hawk performance brake pads.
