1972 Pontiac Lemans Convertible

This month’s Ride of the Month winner is a really cool 1972 Pontiac Lemans Convertible that has been converted to all of the upgrades and trimmings of a GTO. The car is owned by John Freeman and is local to us here in Mooresville, NC – the home of Master Power Brakes. Before you read about John’s awesome car, go ahead and send us some pictures of your ride!

John purchased his lemans convertible a little over a year ago at the Charlotte AutoFair with the intent of having a reliable street cruiser. The car was painted before John purchased the car so a solid, rust free foundation was available to work with.

LS Swap

Once in John’s hands, he made the decision that an LS swap was necessary to make him happy. With that thought in mind, a search started for a wrecked GTO that would make for a donor of its engine and transmission. A low mileage car was found and the transformation began.

The car now features a freshened up engine compartment with all of the comforts of a modern car including an air conditioning upgrade and plenty of cooling through a big aluminum radiator.

Once all of those items were installed, a complete Master Power Brakes Rallye Series front brake system was installed on the front using a 9” dual diaphragm power brake unit. For the rear brakes, a Pro Driver system was installed to match the front’s new-found braking capability. The brakes were then surrounded by a really cool looking set of wheels that mimic the factory style just in a larger diameter.

John now has a car that can go anywhere, yet even sitting still in a parking lot, gathers a crowd of folks around to admire and ask questions. Congratulations, John!
